About this Event
The University of Reading are excited to welcome you to the Autumn Community Forum 2024.
Hosted by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Van de Noort, this is your opportunity to find out more about the University and Reading Student Union's community activity, share your feedback on our work and raise any challenges which can be addressed directly.
Come along to connect with University staff and build stronger relationships to encourage better collaboration between the University and the local area.
The event includes a buffet dinner and refreshments.
This event is free and open to anyone in the local community.
You must register for a free ticket to attend the Community Forum.
Programme:
Doors open from 18.00
18.00-18.30- welcome and arrival, food to be served.
1 8.30-18.35 - welcome from the Vice Chancellor.
1 8.35-18.50 - update on how the University has responded to feedback from the Summer Community Forum.
18:50-19:30 – Group discussion – reviewing the progress of the Community Engagement Action Plan
Guests will be invited on tables to rate the progress of CEAP Year 1, review Year 2 priorities and share feedback on what is missing, reflecting on the priorities agreed at the Autumn Community Forum 2023.
Each table will then be invited to share feedback to the room which will be captured and used to reflect on the existing priorities and shape them.
19:30-19:40 – Reading Students’ Union update.
19:40-20:20 – Break out groups to commence. Themes have been decided based on the most common themes of questions asked at the Summer Community Forum 2024.
- Student growth, student housing and local impact (to both residents and servcies)
- University facilities and activities open to the community and their promotion
- Enhancing biodiversity on and off campus
20.20-20.30 - close from the Vice Chancellor.

Parking - we would encourage the use of public transport where possible.

The car park can be accessed by turning left on to Crown Place from London Road. Parking is free and no permit is required after 5pm.
Public transport - the 21 bus route runs regularly between Lower Earley, the town centre and University. The closest stop to London Road Campus is Kendrick Student Village.

Environmental sustainability - cups will provided, however you are encouraged to bring your own reusable cup to support the environmental sustainability of the event.
