Mimi Thi Nguyen, professor of women's, gender, and sexuality studies at Dartmouth College, will discuss punk as a moving target with forms, structures, aesthetics, and networks of feelings that are not stable or the same in any time or place. Nguyen makes sense of living within the spaces where she met punk's promise -- through war, forced removal, crimes of private property and public disorder, and chance encounters with friends and strangers. This event will take place in the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art auditorium. It is free. Everyone is welcome. Co-sponsored by Asian and Asian American Studies, Black Mountain Institute, Department of Anthropology, Neon Pacific Initiative, and PunkCon. University Forum is organized by UNLV’s College of Liberal Arts. Contact the College with any questions about this lecture: 702-895-3401 [email protected]
