Just as a bird relies on two wings for flight, the two aspects of compassion and wisdom are both essential in order to fulfill our aspirations to attain the state of complete awakening.Informed by wisdom, compassion understands how to be present and helpful in the face of confusion and suffering. Inspired by compassion, wisdom is moved to uproot the source of all confusion and enable
us to quickly and skillfully benefit others. Working together they become
inseparable, a singular and potent energy dedicated to removing the suffering of the world.
In this course, we will examine teachings on the development of
compassion from the renowned seventh-century Indian Buddhist scholar,
Chandrakirti, in which he provides clear instruction on how to bring these two minds together in meditation and daily practice.
