Unicorn Girl - Invisible. Until she wasn’t
Presented by Manning Valley Anglican College
Sam is not popular. She’s clever, imaginative, fiercely loyal to her two best friends—and stuck at the bottom of the school social ladder. Lunchtimes are spent under ‘Lone Tree’, friendships are small, and survival means keeping your head down. Until one rumoured school fight promises entry into the world of the “anyone who’s anyone.”
One bad decision, a swirl of gossip and an unforgettable accident later, Sam is transformed into a schoolyard legend: Unicorn Girl. Overnight, rumour becomes myth, myth becomes power, and Sam becomes the most talked-about person in the school.
As Unicorn Girl, Sam is adored, feared and followed. Students bow. Teachers obey. Bullies retreat. With her best friends Jess and Macey by her side—and the dangerously charming Lee managing the hype—Sam finally has everything she ever wanted. The school changes. Rules are rewritten. Justice is swift, theatrical and absolute.
But power is addictive. As Unicorn Girl’s influence grows, the line between confidence and control begins to blur. Kindness gives way to cruelty, leadership slips into dictatorship, and the girl beneath the horn starts to disappear. How far will she go before this ‘boss-persona’ consumes her?
Bold, fast-paced and wickedly funny, Unicorn Girl is a high-energy ensemble work bursting with physical comedy, heightened storytelling and explosive character moments. Contemporary songs are woven throughout the production to amplify emotion, drive momentum and transform key moments into a mini-musical experience, blending movement, music and drama into a thrilling stage event.
This production marks the Australian school debut of Unicorn Girl-making our cast the first school performers anywhere in the world to bring this story to the stage.
