Rahila will discuss how religious and political systems across the globe— from Russia and El Salvador to Saudi Arabia — continue to shape and constrain women’s freedoms. Her work sheds light on patriarchy’s many faces in the age of globalisation, while also celebrating women’s resistance and solidarity.

Rahila Gupta is Chair of Southall Black Sisters, a pioneering organisation supporting Black and minoritised women escaping violence. She has authored and co-authored numerous influential works, including Provoked and Enslaved.
