Unfolding Life and Work Stories. Gender Perspectives Crossing Borders.

Colombia en Diálogo began in 2022 as a series of dynamic encounters bringing together Colombian researchers, professionals, and students based in the UK. These gatherings provide a platform to share both personal and professional experiences abroad, with a particular focus on academic and career trajectories that bridge Colombia and the UK.

The primary aim is to foster a welcoming, intellectually stimulating, and safe environment for dialogue and connection within the UK academic community. By highlighting shared experiences and creating space for reflection and exchange, Colombia en Diálogo seeks to strengthen and expand a network of Colombian academics and professionals, encouraging long-term collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and mutual support across disciplines and sectors.

The central event topic in both gatherings focus on the elusive balance between personal and working life. That is why we call it an “unfolding,” as a metaphor of a dream's feeling, where more than one body must attend to life. This imbalance particularly impacts the life paths of women, motherhood, carers and care workers families. To address this theme, the space brings together a panel of professionals and students in a unique format where art and conversation intertwine sharing a unique space. The event is designed for a broad audience interested in the life and work stories that emerge from migration life journeys.
