Unexpected West Norwood: A Walking Tour
About this Event
Join Lambeth Tour Guide Nikky Catto to explore the ups and downs of West Norwood and all that it hides, proudly proclaims and keeps tucked away. From the River Effra and Three Men in a Boat who were best friends to a water source feud to fuel the Industrial Revolution, we'll explore housing old and new along the people of the area. Meet some unsung women and Jewish history on this walk and step in nature with woodlands and vales. West Norwood is full of history, modern facts and makes a perfect Sunday walk.
This two hour tour is step free but will involve going up and down West Norwood's naturally steep hills and walking in parks, fields and other uneven ground on our circular route. The tour is on the same day as West Norwood Feast so we may take slight diversions depending how busy it is.
Please meet at the war memorial just inside the main gates of West Norwood Cemetery for a 10am sharp start. Our first stop will be here before we move on. We will conclude back here in a circular route.
The following Sunday we will complete Station to Station with Tulse Hill: Lambeth's Surprising Centre as a guided tour.
