Understanding Soil Structures - Detroit Queer Garden Network
About this Event
So much of life begins with soil, yet most of us rarely stop to examine what it is, how it functions, or how much life it contains.
Join the Detroit Queer Garden Network and soil scientist Jake Todd for a hands-on introduction to soil structure. Together, we will dig a small soil pit in the backyard of a Detroit garden and explore the layers, organisms, textures, and processes that make soil the foundation of our gardens and much of our food system.
Participants will learn what healthy soil looks like, how soil develops, and practical ways to improve and support the soil in their own gardens.

Hands-on soil workshop
**7:00–8:30 p.m.**
Community potluck, social time, and chill garden vibes
Bring a dish or drink to share if you are able. No previous gardening or soil science experience is required.
