Cornwall Angel Network exists to support ambitious local founders by connecting them with experienced angel investors, sharing knowledge, and helping businesses become investment-ready. Our role is not just about capital — it is about guidance, clarity, and building healthy, long-term relationships between founders and investors.

The session will begin with a brief overview of the funding landscape in Cornwall, outlining the types of capital available to early-stage businesses and where angel investment typically fits alongside grants, bootstrapping, loans, and venture capital.

We will then explain what angel investment actually is, and address some of the most common myths — including fears around losing control of your business. We will talk openly about equity, decision-making, and what angel investors usually expect, so founders can approach investment conversations with confidence rather than anxiety.

The workshop will also explore what happens before and after angel investment. This includes how angel funding differs from other types of investment, what preparation looks like, and how the founder–investor relationship typically works once investment is in place.

Finally, we will discuss the investment-raising journey from a founder’s perspective — from early thinking and readiness, through pitching and conversations with angels, to closing a round and navigating what comes next.
