About this Event
This in-depth course provides for a better understanding and awareness of domestic abuse, how to spot it and how to respond. This session is particularly suitable for those working in Social Care, health practitioners, probation workers, housing, domestic abuse workers, drug and alcohol workers, or any worker requiring more in-depth knowledge of how to respond. Delivered face-to-face, this training lasts 7 hours (with three breaks) and is delivered by expert trainers.
You will learn:
- To recognise the impact of domestic violence and abuse
- To understand the legal definition and explore different types of abuse in detail, including coercive control
- To understand the barriers to leaving
- How children are impacted by domestic abuse
- To spot the signs that domestic abuse is taking place
- How to ask about domestic abuse and how to respond (including basic safety planning, safer contact principles, safeguarding duties and support strategies).
- Where to refer and signpost
Please be aware that this session contains in-depth information on different types of domestic abuse. This may be impacting for some delegates. If you are concerned about the potential impact of the content the training team can provide you with an overview of the session. Though we provide as much support as possible before, during and after the session – take time to consider if this is the right session for you.
