Underground Mini Comix in a Great Big World of DIY Artwork w/ Ivy Rose
About this Event
This workshop will have a concentrated, robust emphasis on understanding the history and process of underground mini comic creation. This course will be accessible to all adults with varying degrees of interest in the world of self publishing, screenprinting, and linocut. Featured in this workshop will be my collection of comics curated from my personal experience traveling throughout the United States collecting zines delving into an assortment of fun topics from a variety of artists.
The goal of this course will be for everyone to go home with collaborative mini comics created by themselves and their collaborators. It will be a highly interactive workshop that will leave everyone with a thorough understanding of drawing, storytelling, reading comics, creating comic formats, and self expression.
Age / Skill Level:
Teens (15-19) and adults (20 and up). Suitable for beginners, practicing artists, and
Educators.
Schedule:
Saturday September 26th : 11am-4pm
Sunday September 27th : 11am-4pm
*There will be a scheduled break halfway through the session
Materials (what to bring):
A $30 materials fee is also required to attend the class. You will bring $30 cash or check to the instructor on the first day of the workshop.
About the Teaching Artist:
Ivy Rose is an underground comic artist who creates zines and is currently based out of Albuquerque. Since 2017, Ivy has been self publishing their own stories, screenprinting T-shirts, and developing prints of their strictly hand drawn artwork.
