The Southeast Coalition of Authentic Reenactors (SCAR) is proud to announce 'Under the Ancient Oaks' — coming to beautiful Bluffton, South Carolina, at the Heyward House Historic Site the weekend of November 8–9! Get registered if you even think on coming so we can have an accurate head count on logistics. Registration link is here on this website. Registration is free. NEW MILITARY IMPRESSIONS ANNOUNCED FOR 2025: We’re opening the call for participants now, and we’d love to see a strong showing of quality impressions across the board. Whether your portrayal is working class/upper class civilians (mid-19th century period), Union, Confederate, or Home Guard, there’s a place for you at this immersive event. ***Quality impressions only, please.*** Please note: SCAR reserves the right to jury impressions, if necessary, but the goal is to be realistically inclusive as much as history makes possible. Our goal is to bring history to life not only at our main site but also down at the scenic Bluffton waterfront park, where we’ll be interpreting the home front and military life along the coast. We would especially love to have artillery presence at the event — so if you or your unit can bring a cannon and crew, please reach out! This is a great opportunity to expand our narrative and engage the public with accurate, authentic portrayals of the era under the sweeping oaks and the salt air of Bluffton.
