About this Event
Unbroken Circle celebrates the rich history of country music through both song and story at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, at the Allen Public Library, 300 N. Allen Dr.
The Dallas/Ft. Worth-based group began when three friends could not agree on which era of country music was best. They formed Unbroken Circle, choosing the name to not only to honor one of country’s most enduring songs, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” but also to reflect how adaptations of country songs and their styles create, over time, an “Unbroken Circle” of music.
From the Appalachian tunes and stories of the Carter Family through western swing, honky-tonk, rockabilly, the Nashville and Bakersfield sounds, outlaw country, 90’s country to today’s artists and more, Unbroken Circle delivers engaging performances.
Can’t be there in person? The program will be streamed live on ACTV. Find viewing options at Watch ACTV or view online at ACTV.org or YouTube.com/AllenCityTV
On bass guitar and vocals, Greg Ballew is also professor of practice and leader of Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance at University of Texas at Dallas.
On electric, acoustic guitar and vocals, Jeff Clark was a performer at an early age. His wife Ashley awas enthralled with the country music of 90s, and Jeff soon became a country music performer.
Raised in Minnesota, Sue Schilidt listened to country classics that her father played on the record player, among them Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette and Merle Haggard.
The program is free and open to the public. Call 214-509-4911 for more information.
