🎬 Alex North – Overture to Spartacus
A blazing, cinematic overture filled with drama, tension, and revolutionary spirit. Originally written for the 1960 film, this powerful work captures the heart of a rebellion and sets the tone for a night of musical heroism.
🎼 Dmitri Shostakovich – Symphony No. 7 in C Major, Op. 60, “Leningrad”
Composed during the Nazi siege of Leningrad, this towering symphony is one of the boldest musical statements of the 20th century.
From its relentless invasion theme to its overwhelming final climax, it is a symphony of survival, resistance, and the unbreakable human spirit.
