UNBOUND ~ Contact Improvisation for Women
UNBOUND ~ Contact Improvisation for Women: A 4 week embodied journey through the fall season.
NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART --- For those seeking a non-conventional, awkward, strange and wildly fulfilling embodied practice to juice up your life, please join us.
In this 4 week movement series for women we will explore primal movement, ergonomic pathways, agility, play, and creative expression through the practice of Contact Improvisation.
We will cultivate strength and physical intelligence while deepening our sensitivity to space, touch, weight, and momentum. Together, we will expand our capacity for non-verbal connection and discover the intimacy, trust, and freedom that can emerge through group movement.

Facilitator Bio: Brianna Grant
Brianna has been captivated by the form of Contact Improvisation since 2012, and is fascinated by the ever unfolding layers of discovery that continue to emerge within the practice. Apart from being a thrilling, technical and physical practice, she experiences the form as being transformative, intimate, provocative, therapeutic, and healing. She approaches CI as a self discovery practice and is drawn to the somatic, subtle, playful, and theatrical states that can be accessed through deep presence, curiosity and improvisation. Her fascination with the body has lead her to study many forms over the years including, Embodied Relational Gestalt, Somatic Meditation, Breathwork, Acro Yoga, Thai Massage, Feldenkrais, Ji Shin Do, Laban Movement Analysis, and Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Brianna has been facilitating CI since 2015, and has taught on Salt Spring Island, across Vancouver Island and on her travels in Nicaragua. Some of her most influential movement teachers have been Manuel Rochette, Martin Keogh, Helen Walkley, Peter Bingham, Karl Frost, Sole Medina, Ray Chung, Paul Singh and Neige Christenson.
Brianna was a core member of the Salt Spring Island Contact community for 7 years, and is now a core member of the Victoria Contact community where she offers monthly workshops and hosts a bi-weekly Contact class and Jam on Friday evenings. She is a Registered Acupuncturist, entrepreneur, dancer, herbalist, teacher, and longtime gardener and land steward, each role inspiring and informing her movement research.
