This hybrid group exhibition presents a uniquely powerful presentation of local surreal artists, in addition to providing an opportunity for member and non-member emerging artists to tap into the unseen. Surrealism in art dates back centuries, although only within the past century has it been widely recognized as its own extraordinary art form via the Surrealist movement. Largely inspired by dreams, fantasies, and fears – exploring these realms can often be an uneasy process; but the results are always cathartic. For the open call portion of this show, artists were invited to journey into the sphere of the subconscious for inspiration and produce artwork that dismissed the bounds of logic. These works will be shown side by side with renowned local artists who specialize in surrealism, such as David Acevedo and Cesar Aguilera.The resulting collection presents a variety of artwork from different perspectives and stylistic approaches, but all of which explore the introspective realms of a new and impossible reality.
A Meet the Artists Reception
On Thursday, October 3rd from 6 to 8pm Arts Bonita will host a Meet-the-Artists reception for Unbound. The reception is free and open to the public. Lite bites and beverages will be served.
