A meditation class for restless minds, combining gentle movement and mindfulness to support focus, calm, and connection.
About this Event

Designed for neurodivergent individuals, fidgeters, restless minds, and anyone who finds traditional meditation challenging, this class offers an approachable pathway into mindfulness through movement and stillness.

Rather than expecting participants to immediately sit quietly, we'll begin with gentle, accessible movement designed to help release energy, reduce tension, and support nervous system regulation. Movement can be modified for a variety of bodies, abilities, and comfort levels. Once we've given the body an opportunity to settle, we'll transition into a guided meditation practice that may include visualization, breath awareness, reflection, and periods of silence.

This class is less about "clearing your mind" and more about creating space to notice, rest, and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels supportive and sustainable.

What to bring: Comfortable clothing and, if desired, a cushion, blanket, or other support for sitting or lying down during meditation.

The City of Austin is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Reasonable modifications and equal access to communications will be provided upon request. About The Instructor: Marilyn grew up dancing in Austin, Texas, studying at McCallum Fine Arts Academy and Austin Community College. She is drawn to movement practices that emphasize community building, as well as the health and longevity of the dancer.

Her performance credits include work with Ellen Bartel, Darla Johnson, Wingfield Collective, American Communal Industries, and Dance Waterloo, where she has performed since 2022. In recent years, Marilyn has also begun choreographing and producing her own work, exploring queer relationships, embodiment, and the oddness of the body.
