The UllrGrass Band Contest 2026 will be held on Thursday January 22, 2026 at 6 pm at New Terrain Brewing Co in Golden, Colorado. Submissions are due by Jan 1, 2026 and Finalists will be announced on Jan 5, 2026. This event is FREE and open to the public, so come on down and enjoy an evening of LIVE MUSIC. The winner of the UllrGrass Band Contest will be offered a set at the UllrGrass Music Festival Jan 26-28, 2024 and a Main Stage set at UllrGrass 2025. We are holding Fireside Sets for Runners Up and participating bands as well.
To enter, simply paste an audio or video link and your website in this FB event for consideration. Finalists (9 bands) will be selected to perform a 3-song set at New Terrain on Thursday January 18, 2024 in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. The winner will be announced immediately following the contest.
Finalists should arrive by 5:30 pm for orientation. Performance order will be posted at that time.
This contest is open to string bands and non-string bands alike. The judging will be based on the "instrumental performance", "vocal performance - including use of harmony", and "overall performance". Favorable consideration will also be given to bands performing original songs (bands should introduce their original songs as such).
Congratulations to the 2023 Band Contest winners, Nordic Daughter, who will open the UllrGrass Mainstage in Parfet Park on Saturday Jan 28, 2024.
