Now more than ever, Ukrainians need to uphold their cultural traditions that have survived centuries. While Pysanky were banned during the soviet era for promoting Ukrainian nationalism and religion, families would create them in secret with the knowledge that this practice was punishable by death. Ukrainian diaspora in the US and Canada kept this tradition alive for many years until it could safely be practiced again in Ukraine. Help us continue to keep the rich tradition of Pysanka - the art of Ukrainian Easter egg decoration - under the expert guidance of Basia Andrusko, a celebrated artist and “Master Artisan” with the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen.
Basia will guide you through ancient wax-resist technique, where intricate designs are drawn with beeswax and layered with vibrant dyes to create your own beautifully decorated egg.
With this fundraiser, we continue raising money for our Ukrainian defenders.
Price includes: 1 or 2 empty chicken eggs, instruction sheet and use of tools, wax and dyes.
Only 16 spots available!
