Enjoy an exciting day of traditional Ukrainian music and dance. Indulge in authentic Ukrainian food and beer, and discover beautifully crafted artisanal goods and souvenirs.
There will be amazing music from the Dibrova Ukrainian Male Voice Choir, local Ukrainian school children and the Huddersfield Ukrainian Singing Troupe along with pieces played on the market’s piano by Ukrainian musicians.
There will also be dance performances from junior and senior dance groups, traditional ribbon dancing, with more entertainment to announced.
Alongside the programme of entertainment there will be a market with stalls selling traditional embroidery, ceramics, wooden crafts, books, candles, paintings as well as traditional Ukrainian varenyky (dumplings) and Ukrainian bottled beers.
Visitors to the market will be able to take part in workshops showcasing traditional Ukrainian crafts. The drop-in workshops will include Pysanky a traditional method of decorating eggs, as well asl Petrikivka painting a 200-year-old UNESCO-recognised art form used to decorate homes and interiors, plus other workshops for children.
There will also be an exhibition of artwork painted by injured soldiers of the war in Ukraine and a display of retro Ukrainian football shirts and memorabilia.
Shoppers can also find out more about the local Ukrainian community which has a long history in the Bradford district and was established just after WWII by those who arrived from 1947 to work in local textile mills.
