Kom med, når Copenhagen Contemporary og Glyptoteket sammen åbner særudstillingen ‘A Sounding of the Earth’. Udstillingen ‘A Sounding of the Earth’ præsenterer den kuwaitisk-puertoricanske kunstner Alia Farid. På tværs af tid udforsker hendes værker de mange sammenflettede fortællinger, der præger Den Arabiske Golf. Ved at forbinde oldtidsgenstande med nutidens globale olieindustri undersøger Farid, hvordan økosystemer, kulturer og livsformer påvirkes af politiske kræfter og udvindingsindustrier – men også hvordan de bærer vidnesbyrd om modstand og overlevelse.

‘A Sounding of the Earth’ er den første soloudstilling med Alia Farid i Danmark. Den er samtidig den tredje og sidste udstilling i trilogien ’Hosting Histories: Revisiting Cultural Heritage of the Middle East and Beyond’ (2023-2025). Udstillingstrilogien er et treårigt samarbejde mellem Glyptoteket og Copenhagen Contemporary, der gennem international samtidskunst genbesøger oldtidens kulturarv og dens betydning i dag.
PRIS OG BILLET
I anledningen af udstillingsåbningen er der fri entré til Glyptoteket fra kl. 16. Der er et begrænset antal pladser i Festsalen. Der er ligeledes fri entré til Copenhagen Contemporary fra kl. 18.
Vi anbefaler at opleve begge udstillinger, og derfor tilbyder vi rabat på entrebilletter. Årskortholdere fra CC og Glyptoteket kan hele udstillingsperioden besøge hinandens udstillingssted gratis ved fremvisning af gyldigt årskort. Ved fremvisning af gyldig entrebillet til det ene udstillingssted gives der 20% rabat på entre det andet sted.

OM ALIA FARID
Alia Farid (f. 1985 i Kuwait City) bor og arbejder i Kuwait og Puerto Rico. Hendes praksis undersøger, hvordan kulturarv flettes sammen med fortællinger om migration og udvinding. Med afsæt i oversete og udeladte historier skaber hun modfortællinger, der udfordrer den ensidighed, som ofte præger vestlige og koloniale fremstillinger af Den Arabiske Golf og Caribien. I sine seneste værker sporer Farid, hvordan materialer og former forandres, når de bevæger sig fra sted til sted, og reflekterer over deres skiftende betydninger og relation til samfundet.

Join the opening of Copenhagen Contemporary and The Glyptotek’s new exhibition ‘A Sounding of the Earth’.
The exhibition ‘A Sounding of the Earth’ presents the Kuwaiti-Puerto Rican artist Alia Farid, whose work explores the many intertwined past and present histories of the Arabian Gulf. By linking ancient artefacts with today’s global oil industry, Farid’s work traces how ecosystems, cultures and life forms are shaped by political forces and extractive industries — but also how they testify to resistance and resilience.

‘A Sounding of the Earth’ is the third and final exhibition in the trilogy ‘Hosting Histories: Revisiting Cultural Heritage of the Middle East and Beyond’ (2023-2025). The trilogy is a three-year collaboration between the Glyptotek and Copenhagen Contemporary revisiting ancient cultural heritage and its significance today through contemporary art.
PRICE AND TICKETS
To mark the exhibition opening, admission will be free: to Glyptoteket from 4.00 pm and to CC from 6.00 pm. There are a limited number of seats to the artist talk at The Glyptotek.
We recommend visiting both exhibitions and therefore we offer a discount on admission. Holders of season tickets to either CC or The Glyptotek can visit the other venue free. Holders of regular tickets to either exhibition receive a 20% discount on admission to the other venue.
ABOUT ALIA FARID
Alia Farid (b. 1985 in Kuwait City) lives and works in Kuwait and Puerto Rico. Her practice explores how material cultural heritage intervenes with narratives of migration and extraction. Taking overlooked and omitted histories as a point of departure, Farid creates counter-narratives that defy the oversimplification often found in Western and colonial representations of the Arab Gulf and the Caribbean. In her latest works, Farid traces how materials and forms change as they move from place to place, reflecting on their meanings and relation to society.
