En folkefestival med talks, samtale, tanker, kunst og fællesspisning, alt sammen for i fællesskab at fremdrive nye ideer og forestillinger om et samfund af regenerative strukturer og omsorgsfulde fællesskaber med hinanden og naturen.
I 2025 vender Degrowth Festivalen i København tilbage for tredje år i træk, og samler endnu en gang borgere, forskere, kunstnere og aktivister for at udforske nye veje til samfundsmæssig omstilling.
Denne gang fokuserer vi på de strukturelle forhindringer, vi står overfor, og modets rolle i at transformere det fælles rum – på, hvordan vi kan gennemføre omstillingen på et fundament af global solidaritet og retfærdighed, og hvordan dialog og fællesskaber på tværs af grænser kan nære visioner for en retfærdig og bæredygtig fremtid. (Sproget vil være både dansk og engelsk)
Gennem oplæg og åbne samtaler vil vi belyse, hvorfor det er afgørende at tale om radikal omstilling – selv når det går imod konsensus – og hvordan vi kan gentænke degrowth i relation til det Globale Syd og de særlige udfordringer, der findes dér.
Festivalen vil tilbyde en rig kombination af teoretiske diskussioner i et tilgængeligt sprog, sammen med praktiske, kunstneriske og deltagende workshops. Der vil være fælles måltider og kunstneriske performances og installationer, der skal styrke forbindelserne mellem os og udfordre vores vanetænkning.
Samfundet står over for store udfordringer i omstillingen til et regenerativt system. Den brede Degrowth-bevægelse beståen af forskere, aktivister, bønder og mange forskelligartede fagligheder, der arbejder på at udvikle ideer for, hvordan vi kan leve med hinanden og naturen uden at nedbryde, men i stedet bygge op på ny – sammen.
Degrowth Festivalen er blevet til, som et samarbejde mellem Syndicate of Creatures og Kulturhuset Islands Brygge.

A festival with talks, conversations, reflections, art, and communal meals – all aimed at jointly fostering new ideas and visions for a society built on regenerative structures and caring communities for humans and more than humans.
In 2025, the Degrowth Festival in Copenhagen returns for its third consecutive year, once again bringing together citizens, researchers, artists and activists to explore new pathways for societal transformation.
This time, we focus on the structural obstacles we face, and the role of courage in transforming the shared space – on how we transition with a foundation of global solidarity, justice, and how cross-boundary dialogues and communities can nurture visions for a just and livable future. (the language will be both in Danish and English)
Through lectures and open conversations, we will highlight why it's vital to speak about radical transition – even against consensus – and how we might rethink degrowth in relation to the Global South and the specific challenges they face.
The festival will offer a rich mix of theoretical discussions and accessible language, alongside practical, artistic and participatory workshops. There will be communal meals and artistic interventions to stimulate connection and disrupt our habitual thinking.
Society is facing major challenges in the transition to a regenerative system. The broad Degrowth movement consists of researchers, activists, farmers, and many diverse fields of expertise, all working to develop ideas for how we can live with each other and with nature without depleting, but instead rebuilding – together.
