DATES:
- Saturday, March 1, 2025: 8:30 AM-7:00PM (Singles & Mixed)
- Sunday, March 2, 2025: 8:00 AM-5:00PM (Doubles)
- Check-in will begin at 7:30AM on both days
- Match times will be posted on Tournament Software.
VENUE:
- Robertson Gym, Ocean Road, Isla Vista, CA 93117
PARKING:
Parking will be available in Lots 16 and 18 (across from the Recreation Center)
EVENTS:
- A, B, C, D Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles
- Events may be combined depending on the amount of entries received.
- Multiple partners for the same event are NOT allowed.
- Players can play a maximum of 3 events per day.
- Players must play within 2 consecutive flights across all entries.
- Pairs must play in the flight of the higher ranked player.
ENTRY FEES:
- $25 first event, $20 for each additional event
ENTRY DEADLINE:
- Deadline to sign up is 2/21 at 11:59PM.
- If you intend to withdraw, please do so by 2/21 at 11:59PM.
BIRDS:
- 2 Aeroplane Black Label bird will be provided to all A flight events.
- Players must provide their own shuttles for all other flights.
PRIZES:
- A cash prize will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place winners for A flight events.
- Prizes will be awarded for all 1st and 2nd place winners.
T-SHIRTS:
- The shirt design will be made available as the tournament approaches, along with the pricing.
- Shirts will be available for preorder and extras will be sold on the day of the tournament.
- Shirts sold on the day of the tournament are limited in quantity, and will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
PAYMENT:
- Payments via Venmo (@humichelle08) or Zelle (630 696 5641) are strongly preferred. In the payment memo, please write "UCSB Winter Open 2025" followed by your first and last name, and all events you are playing.
- Cash payments will be accepted on the day of the tournament at check-in.
- Payments can be made any time prior to the tournament date, and will be accepted on the day of the tournament at check-in.
- Players will not be able to play if tournament fees have not been paid.
RULES & REGULATIONS:
1. Rally scoring format for all events, 3x21. All consolation matches except the finals are 1x21. Consolation FINALS will be 3x21. A match card will be provided.
2. Some events may be played in a Round Robin format or combined, dependent on number of entries.
3. Players' flights may be altered at the discretion of the tournament directors to prevent players from playing below their skill level.
4. Players who qualify for semi-finals in a higher flight may be disqualified from the lower flight.
5. We will be enforcing a 5 minute default timer. If players do not check-in within that time, we will default them.
6. Court warm-up time is restricted to 2 minutes.
7. Women are allowed to play in men's flights, but men are not allowed to play in women's flights. A mixed pair CAN sign up for MD events.
8. There will not be a lunch break. Players should plan their meals according to their match times. Please keep in mind that players should be present in the gym 30 minutes before their scheduled match.
9. Food and drink, except water, are not allowed in the gym. They may be consumed in the alcove area, where the check-in area will be.
10. All players must sign a waiver at the check-in desk.
