About this Event

The Ubuntu Dialogues, created by Adriaans & Associates, is a public conversation series inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu — “I am because we are.” The series brings together leaders, scholars, artists, and changemakers to explore how shared humanity can respond to the defining challenges of our time.

Ubuntu Dialogue 2: Reimagining Education Through Ubuntu will convene two distinguished university chancellors from Canada and South Africa — Dr. Naledi Pandor, Chancellor of Nelson Mandela University, and Elder Claudette Commanda, Chancellor of the University of Ottawa — for a powerful intercontinental dialogue on the future of higher education, leadership, equity, and global responsibility.

Together, these leaders — whose careers span public service, diplomacy, governance, business, and higher education — will explore what it means to reimagine education through dignity, inclusion, ethical leadership, and collective wellbeing.

A Living Legacy Beyond the Event

A portion of proceeds from Ubuntu Dialogue 2 will support the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Bursary at the University of Toronto.

This perpetual scholarship supports future generations of students, with contributions amplified through a university matching programme. In doing so, each act of support extends beyond a single moment in time — becoming part of a longer legacy of educational opportunity, equity, and leadership development.

It is a living continuation of the values embodied by Archbishop Desmond Tutu — justice, compassion, and the belief in the dignity of every human being.

The inaugural dialogue launched the series with a conversation between Dr. Siyabulela Mandela and Dr. Kofi Hope, establishing a platform grounded in Ubuntu values of equity, interdependence, and collective resilience. Ubuntu Dialogue 2: Reimagining Education Through Ubuntu is the second instalment in the series, continuing this evolving platform with a focus on the future of higher education.
