The Standbys have built a dedicated local following through standout sets at iconic venues like Round the Corner, Affleck’s and a SOLD-OUT headline show at The Old Courts. Their sonic identity defined by washy vocal reverb, driving guitar riffs, and anthemic choruses—recently earned them a coveted spot on the 2026 Battle of the Bands.

With a reputation for professional craftsmanship and a "good lads" persona, the group continues to evolve their lineup and sound, consistently pushing the boundaries of the modern indie genre. Jay Halliday is an emerging artist shaped by a strong indie and rock influence, drawing inspiration from bands and artists such as Oasis, The Stone Roses, Freddie Halkon and The K’s. His sound reflects this, with live performances often featuring covers from these artists alongside his own developing style.

Active on social media, particularly TikTok, Jay regularly shares cover performances, giving audiences a glimpse into his musical journey. He has already written two original songs in his spare time and plans to pursue music more seriously once he finishes school.

Music runs in the family, with Jay’s dad having performed in various bands, including a T. Rex tribute act and previously a Liam Gallagher tribute band. A constant source of support and guidance, his dad plays a key role in shaping Jay’s growth as an artist.
