Typewronger's No Homework Book Club - Jul 2026/Book Adaptations

Every 2nd Sunday of the month, we'll get together as a small group in the shop to talk about books we have read or are currently reading based on the monthly prompt. Feel free to bring the book you want to talk about for a bit of show and tell, but this is by no means required. Come join us for some great conversation - this format is great to discuss a variety of titles instead of just one, and to get a fantastic recommendations as a result! Every so often, we'll take a break from more classic genre-based themes to make space for other fun and more unusual ones. Hence this month we'll be discussing books that were adapted into other forms of media, like films, TV series, theatre or what have you. Do you watch the adaptations of your favourite titles or avoid them like the plague? Did the casting slay or fail? Did you read a book and then hated its movie, or maybe did you love a movie and then hated its source material? Whatever your thoughts on the matter, come chat about them with us! Note: in case you disagree with someone on an adaptation quality, please keep the punches ABOVE the belt and stop when the bell rings. It keeps it fair for everyone.

During the evening, everyone will get a set amount of time to tell us about the title they picked and why they picked it. You don't have to talk for the entire allocated time, but the limit is there to ensure that everyone gets a chance to introduce their pick. You don't have to necessarily even have a specific title in mind to come, you just need the willingness to listen and discuss the topic. Free hot tea included (and encouraged).
