In 19th century Montana, a painter's worldview is challenged by his Native American guide while exploring a new landscape. In 1970s California, a teenager’s life is shaken up by the arrival of an enigmatic transfer student. In present-day Wyoming, a trans youth attempts to work through his complex emotions with a nonbinary therapist.
