PHIL LAING.
Phil is the Driving Wheel behind Juke Joint @ the Jacaranda one of the countries longest running events. A club I've attended for the greater part of its 9 year history and still enjoy it today as much as the first time I visited. It's music policy is an extension of Phils taste and his long standing mates that are residents and the heartbeat of the venue. Something we here at Twistin's'cool hope to emulate so its a real pleasure to have him come and share his music with us, from Big City Soul crooners to melodic Jamaican sounds and Hard hitting RnB to sublime Rhythm and Soul movers both Classic and underplayed all with his own individual stamp. The way he dances behind the decks and sometimes in front of whilst selecting the tunes that move him inspire others to join in. Very happy to have him come share his Vibe with us.
Celia Lemon and Peter Mallisch.
Two of the most respected and enjoyable couples to spend time with and to simply enjoy watching them dancing together.
They will be sharing their records with us with a knowledge and passion built from many years of traveling all over the country supporting and enjoying many of the vintage scenes events, but more importantly that togetherness their shared passion of the music and the people involved that share that passion. Which is the perfect fit for us here people sharing their passion but individuality in the selections they hope you'll love as much as they do. The history of clubs and records they've logged up in their barnets is second to none it'll be an honour to have them share just some of that with us.
Pete Griffin. Pete is just about as Mod as it gets but holds on dearly to his individuality as much as his hat in the wind. Pete has supported Longy and I in past endeavours and we are always grateful when he comes and shares some of his amazing collection for us. His collection of records is varied as it is in number knowing his onions on Northern, Club soul, Rnb, Jamaican sounds and obscure British releases hes a pleasure to talk to about his passions. Hes a well respected provider of music and has done so booked all over the shop at too many clubs to mention but he's foremost a collector of what he loves musically for his own enjoyment . Be sure you're going to hear some absolute classics and some underplayed belters that will satisfy anyone with similar taste, which includes most of us in fairness and again his individual taste creates a great vibe even for some of the most discerning original skins with a vast Jamaican collection and knowledge matched by few. Top fella, Top tunes Top hole old bean!
Dennis Haw.
Part of the team at the hugely successful and culturally historic club The Sink in Liverpool his pedigree goes as far back. Hes a renowned collector of Soul and Rhythm and blues who knows just about every influential character who helped build the many vintage scenes we have, born from clubs like the Twisted Wheel, the torch etc etc. Infamous reissuers of compilations in this country will have often gone to Dennis for information on artists or groups, label numbers and scans of record labels for use in covers art info and the like. Not only does Dennis know his onions his love of American football had him involved actually teaching the sport across the pond. His great mind and cool persona belays like dormant volcano the passion below the surface a lava flow of intrigue and understanding of the music we all love. He's unearthed many records that have become in-demand over many decades and although his modesty wont admit it there are many who see him as the go to for info on the most obscure of releases and he probably knows the catalogue numbers off by heart of the records he owns and is still looking for. He's the Rain man of Rhythm but he has a deep relationship with the music of Black America that when he plays his music out for us all it hits the spot and even creates a little bit of vinyl envy amongst those enjoying his absolute first class taste. Hard to argue with a man who supports the champions of the Premier league and I think all of the above mentioned will agree Premier league is the level of this months Major Asset at Twistin's'cool.
Look out for current top fives or picks for the club with photos of our guests coming to whet our appetites .
Thanks and we hope to see you down in our club Twistin's'ccol in October. Without your support we are nothing and we want to share all this with you and also help a local business willing to put music at their heart survive in a difficult industry . They too are about public service and providing us with means to have a ball. A brilliant environment with a World Class sound system, A bar and plenty room to dance.
