About this Event
Twilight Nature Walk at Rosehill Cemetery
Join the Chicago Council on Science and Technology on Tuesday, October 29th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for Twilight Nature Fest at Rosehill Cemetery, an evening of nature exploration under the autumn twilight. This special event will feature guided nighttime walks led by experts from the Illinois Audubon Society, West Ridge Nature Park Advisory Council, and the Chicago Mushroom Club, offering a unique opportunity to explore the wildlife and ecosystems of this historic cemetery after dark. Come learn about the diverse plants and wildlife that call this space home and discover how ecosystems adapt and flourish amidst city life.
Guests can get up close to owls, hawks, and falcons in a live meet-and-greet session with birds of prey, hosted by the Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab. Another highlight includes the mushroom UV table, where Chicago Mushrooms will demonstrate the glowing effects of UV-reactive fungi, along with fun arts and crafts activities for all ages. A light trap set up by a West Ridge Nature Park Volunteer will also provide a chance to observe and learn about local moth species.
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to meet local artists Cheri Charlton and Scott Fink at their Audubon mural, where they will share insights into their artwork and inspiration.
Come prepared with flashlights, water bottles, and comfortable shoes as you experience the magic of nature at twilight in one of Chicago’s most fascinating green spaces. This event is free and open to all ages, offering a perfect mix of education, art, and hands-on activities in celebration of the natural world.
