About this Event
A culminating senior show that marks the close of a transformative academic and creative journey—from Snow College to the University of Utah, and now completing his chapter at Brigham Young University.
This event is both an art exhibition and an artist seminar, exploring the central theme of opposition in all things—a concept rooted in wisdom and echoed in contemporary tension. Through bold visual statements, layered symbolism, and references to his love for rap culture, TVOU invites the audience to witness how contradiction becomes rhythm, and how duality becomes design.
The exhibition opens at 5:00 PM, followed by a live seminar at 6:30 PM, where TVOU will speak on his creative process, recent travels, and future projects.
Featured Works Include:
• Patterns of the Pacific — A foundational piece first exhibited at the Springville Museum of Art in 2023.
• Pasifika Legends — A new series of abstract illustrations that reimagine ancestral stories through layered symbolism and contemporary form.
• Mixed-media works fusing hip hop and graffiti aesthetics into glass and wood—interrogating permanence, rupture, and memory.
This show is more than a presentation—it is a reflection on culture and identity. Born in Los Angeles and rooted in Samoan and Tongan heritage, TVOU uses art to interrogate the pace of violence, the permanence of tatau, and the yearn for respect. His work honors the tension between fast judgment and slow ceremony, between the explicit and the sacred, and the beauty in struggle.
