About this Event
Join Trout Unlimited (TU) and the Lake Sammamish Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership (UWRP) as we partner with Green Issaquah on monthly Stewardship Saturday events!
This month we're starting work along Issaquah Creek, behind Pickering Barn. Join us to dig out blackberry rootballs and remove invasive ivy from the riparian area. Issaquah Creek is an important salmon bearing stream and this is an ongoing restoration project to improve habitat and water quality.
Event Details: Meet at 10:00 am in the grassy area outside Pickering Barn. This event is taking place during the Issaquah Farmers Market hours. We will be meeting outside of the market and walking over to the site together
Volunteers will be using shovels, and other tools to dig blackberry, remove ivy, and maintain the area around native plantings as we restore this site.
All community members are welcome, and no experience necessary!
Reserve your spot online. Registration will close at 7:00 pm the day before the event.
W hat to bring
- Closed-toed shoes are required, such as hiking boots, tennis shoes, or rain boots. Digging will be muddy.
- Don’t forget your water, snacks, and any additional layers to keep yourself comfortable while you’re out.
- We will provide the know-how, gloves, and tools, for everyone to be successful.
P arking:Volunteers will park in the parking structure near the Farmers Market,behind the Pickering Barn. This is the only approved parking location and themain entry point into the market. Visitors can park on the first and second levels ofthe structure. Please do not park in the Costco Warehouse parking lot or Costco Corporate Employee parking lots.
AccessibilityThis event is family friendly and open to all ages. Stewardship activities will take place on uneven ground including grass, dirt, and trails. There are restroom facilities on site. We understand everyone experiences the outdoors differently and we are open to working with anyone that needs additional support. Please contact us in advance so that we can do our best to accommodate your needs and/or find a way for you or your group to have fun participating in our event.
