A morning of art, science, and literature, all focusing on the beautiful details of turtle shells! We'll start this workshop off with a lesson about turtle shell anatomy, and the varying colors and patterns possessed by different species. Students will get hands-on to investigate real turtle shells, and will then spend some time working on turtle shell art. Younger students will have a variety of shells to color, in their choice of either realistic patterns or they can create their own colorful patterns. Art time will be followed with a turtle-specific story time.
Older students will learn some more advanced drawing techniques to accomplish realistic patterns, and will learn about the varying ways researchers tag shells to track wild turtle populations.
This is the perfect opportunity for animal-loving siblings to be dropped off for a fun and educational morning, while parents get a little time to enjoy a leisurely coffee or walk down the street from this beautiful new studio in downtown Kennesaw.
