Students will make and take approx. 12” platter on the lathe made from 1” laminated hardwoods of various widths. Students will learn how to safely cut wood strips on the table saw; glue the strips together to create a blank; and using the bandsaw to rough-out the shape. Students will learn work holding techniques on the lathe and how to turn with carbide tools. Students will learn about various finishing options and will complete their platter with a food safe penetrating oil.
