About this Event
In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, please join TurnAround, Inc. as we host our Denim Day event. The Denim Day story begins in Italy in the 1990’s when a driving instructor was prosecuted for raping his 18-year-old student. He later successfully appealed the conviction, claiming that because the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped him remove them. Enraged by the verdict, the women of the Italian Parliament launched a protest wearing jeans on the steps of the Supreme Court. Their demonstration of solidarity was picked up by international media which inspired the globally recognized Denim Day we observe each year.
TurnAround’s Denim Day resource fair will highlight local, survivor-centered organizations, and the services they offer. While visiting vendors of our fair, you can also engage in our educational and awareness programming, grab free treats, and take home plenty of giveaways!
Come out and help spread awareness about ways to end sexual violence in your community.
