Tunnel & Pivot: Standup Comedy Night!
About this Event
Amsterdam's English-language comedy scene runs on rooms like this one. No velvet rope, no two-drink minimum, no algorithm deciding who gets stage time. Just a bar, a mic, and a line-up of comics who have spent months sharpening ten minutes until it lands. On Saturday 5 September, Pivot and The Tunnel & Co give the room over to a night of stand-up in English.
Pivot is a comedy community first. It exists so people can be around comedy in whatever way suits them: watch shows, join jams, take workshops, meet collaborators, or build something of their own. There are no auditions and no approval process, and when a member makes a show, they keep control of it and keep the money. This night is that principle with a mic stand in front of it: comics from the community, on one bill, in one of the city's warmer rooms.
The Tunnel & Co is the right kind of venue for it: warm lights, deep shadows, and the sort of late night that turns into a story you retell badly for years.
Your MC
Jacob Stewart hosts, holding the room together across eight sets.
The line-up
- Rebecca Kingston — An aspiring stand up and improviser, co-producing What The Goose Comedy Open Mic in Haarlem. When on stage she looks at a scene and asks the question, yes and what if it was even more physical?
- Alex Fletcher — A mainstay at the Amsterdam comedy scene, Alex brings their unique style of comedy to the masses!
- Kristina Jak — recently shared a split bill in the Attic at Boom Chicago, billed by Amsterdam's Live List newsletter as one of two "brilliant local talents" on the night.
- Rushali — took her debut hour, Something! Sometime! Someone!, to Brighton Fringe this year: an action-comedy movie reinterpreted through autobiographical chaos!
- Lupe Estrada — an Amsterdam fixture billed around town as a local legend, and the host of their own free English-language stand-up nights in the city.
- Prashant — the other half of What The Goose Comedy Open Mic in Haarlem, and one of the most reliably funny names on the local circuit.
- Zoe Ntonta — a Greek comedian based in Amsterdam, known for high-energy storytelling and dark humour.
- Anam Naqvi — an India-born comic whose work-in-progress show Good Damage mines the comedy in upheaval, change, and the things that do not go to plan.
