What’s all the talk about Con-Con? Every 16 years, Michigan voters must decide whether they want to hold a Constitutional Convention (known as “Con-Con”) to rewrite some or all of the current Michigan Constitution.
In this November’s election, Proposal 1 is automatically on the ballot to pose this question.
What’s at stake? A lot. If the Michigan Constitution is opened up to revisions, nothing is sacred; we could reverse hard-fought civil rights victories like reproductive freedom for all, voting rights, and the independent citizens redistricting commission. And the cost is estimated to be upwards of $80 million dollars.
Join us on Oct 13 at The Unicorn Tavern for a conversation with Liz Balck, policy strategist with the ACLU Michigan, West Michigan, to learn more about Proposal 1: the Con-Con.
