About this Event
You've never experienced fun like this! Unless, of course, you've already done improv before 🤣
In this Drop-In Improv Class, you will be slowly guided through rudimentary improv games, muscle memory games, and some silly, silly exercises designed to get you laughing & help you become more comfortable with the uncomfortable.
What You Can Expect To Get Out Of This Class:
• Rediscovering/Tapping Into Your Inner-Child & Using "Play" To Develop Creativity
• Becomming Acquainted With Speaking Publically
• Breaking Out Of Your Shell
• Building Confidence & Developing Trust
• Improving Communication
• Reinforcing How To Support Your Team & Collaboration
• Developing The Muscle Of Commitment
• Understanding How To Make Stronger Choices
• Laughing. Lots And Lots Of Laughing!
A Few Things to Keep in Mind:
• This is a recurring ONE DAY class (Attend one class, or attend all classes. Cirriculum changes from week-to-week based on attendance)
• Class will be held at Cre8ive Studios (134 W 29th St, Floor 2) 6:30pm-8:30pm
• We will be moving around the space and on our feet for a good portion of class, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing that allows you to move around freely
• Keep an open mind and a willingness to participate (even if you think what we're doing is a little ridiculous, because I promise you that it will be)!
• This is a judgment-free zone! We ask that all participants commit to providing an inclusive space for all to feel comfortable through the use of inclusive language, respect of personal boundaries, and omission of controversial topics. Any person(s) exhibiting behavior that becomes explicitly non-supportive, judgmental, or problematic might be asked to leave.
About Your Instructor:
Mike Brown has been teaching improv since 2011. He taught at The People's Improv Theater for 3 years before going on tour with BeerProv aboard the MSC Meraviglia Cruise Ship performing Short Form Improv (Whose Line Is It Anyway) nightly. He developed his own signature style of improvisation (Solo Improv), and spent 10+ years traveling the globe performing in nearly every improv festival imaginable. He also met his wife, Kim, in improv class! He's got plenty of stories to regale you with, so maybe you should ask him about some of them sometime!
