About this Event
The Auburn Public Theater will be presenting a performance by John Morello of the full-length poem, The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot.
Actor John Morello, well-known for his original one-man show Dirt and fresh off of an appearance on PBS’ Stories From The Stage, creates a mesmerizing performance of this classic poem. The Waste Land shifts between voices of satire and prophecy, and features abrupt unannounced changes of narrator, location and time, conjuring a range of cultures.
Part actor, shaman, and Tik-Tok user, Morello effortlessly switches, swipes, and inhabits the poem’s characters taking audiences around the world, through time, and into the broken images of a human psyche. Accompanied by an original ambient score blended with captivating images and lighting, this performance is a multi-sensory invitation to one of the most important poems of the 20th century. Auburn Public Theater invites you to come experience The Waste Land and see why The Atlantic Monthly raves “One hundred years after publication… its vision has never been more terrifying.” Watch the trailer below!
