Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in the stripes? Here’s your chance!
The Greater Saginaw Amateur Hockey Association is inviting youth ages 11+, teens, college kids, and even parents to come try officiating on Saturday, September 27th.
*please note: limited games are available to ref at age 11
This FREE event is designed to help retain and attract new officials—because without refs, we won't be able to play our favorite game.
💵It’s also a great way to earn extra money, stay active, and even work while in college.
Here’s what you can expect at this event:
🏒 On-Ice Mentoring – Experienced refs will guide you during the games.
📋 Penalty Box Coaching – Learn game flow, calls, and communication from the bench.
Here's what you can expect if you decide to ref in Saginaw:
💰 Fee Support – Officiate 5 games this season for $100 off your player fee, or 10 games for $200 off—PLUS your regular game pay.
🤝 Season Mentoring – Ongoing support from long-time official Rich Vervinck to help you succeed, learn, and give you the advice you need to get better each time you wear your stripes.
⚠️REQUIREMENTS!
**All on-ice participants must be registered with USA Hockey as an official, coach, or player.
--Participants not registered as a coach/player are welcome to try from the penalty box area only.
