The Werribee Bushwalking & Outdoor Club invites you to join them on an explore of Anakie Gorge in the Brisbane Ranges. This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria. This easy-going stroll takes us through the picturesque area of the eastern Brisbane Ranges. The gorge follows the Stony Creek with several dry creek crossings on large flat easy to navigate rocks. We continue past the Stony Creek picnic ground for a short distance to the Stony Creek Reserve Dam, our turn around point. Retracing our steps to the picnic ground we’ll stop for morning tea before returning to the start of our walk just in time for lunch. There are amenities at both picnic grounds.
DISTANCE: 8 Km circuit walk that will take approximately 3 hours.
WHO IS THIS WALK FOR? This walk is suitable for beginners with a reasonable fitness level.
ABOUT OUR CLUB: The Werribee Bushwalking & Outdoor Club is a small friendly bunch of like minded people of about 30 members, ranging in age from 35 to 80+. We are from diverse backgrounds but all share a love of bushwalking and other outdoor activities. Our walks are usually held on Sundays in national or state parks, metropolitan parks and some urban areas. We also do occasional overnight walks, weekends away, shutterbug (photography) events and social activities. Club meetings are held at 7.30 pm on the second Thursday of each month in Werribee. Visitors are welcome to attend.
