Note: This virtual workshop covers content across two days. Registrants are encouraged to attend both days in order to receive full insight on objectives being covered.
- Workshop Day 1: Introduction to TBRI & Connection Principle: Saturday, February 15th, 9:30AM-1:30PM CST
- Workshop Day 2: Empowering and Correcting Principles: Saturday, March 1st, 9:30AM-1:30PM CST
TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. (Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development website) This interactive workshop will provide participants with an introduction to Trust Based Relational Intervention. Participants will learn about the Correcting, Empowering, and Connecting approach to working with “Children from hard places,” a phrase coined by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross, the developers of TBRI.
Objectives:
- Identify techniques in each of the three principles to use with their children.
- Explore their family history and self-awareness as they relate to their parenting style.
- Identify changes to a child’s environment that may help reduce stress.
- Enhance understanding of how to interpret behavior and respond appropriately.
- Recognize the difference between “safety” and “felt safety” and the importance of the distinction.
