Truro Town Hall has a rich history as part of the larger Truro township, which was established in the mid-1800s. The town itself was surveyed in 1847-48 by Thomas Burr and Frederick Sinnett, and named after the town of Truro in Cornwall, England. The town's history is intertwined with agriculture, particularly wheat farming, and the nearby Wheal Barton copper mine which operated from 1842 to the 1970s. The town serves as a way station for travelers and a service centre for the surrounding agricultural region.
At the centre of the main street sits the Truro Town Hall. Built in 1875 the town hall has been the meeting place for many functions, celebrations & events over the years.
