At the same time, the US is a trendsetter in energy, technology, artificial intelligence and biotechnology. It remains militarily the world’s most powerful nation (though China is catching up).

Who is likely to win on November 5? What are the strengths and weaknesses of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, and their running mates? How will Democrats or Republicans govern the US when it is more divided than it has been since the late 1960s? What is the likely trajectory for American foreign policy?
