Truck & Tractor Pulls - Full Pull Productions
Advertisement
Competing trucks and tractors are hooked to a weighted sled and try to drag it as far as possible down a straight dirt track. The sled is the key: most use a weight-transfer design where a heavy box rides on top and mechanically shifts forward over the sled's pan as the vehicle advances. The farther you pull, the more weight presses down onto the front of the sled, until the resistance becomes so great that even a machine making thousands of horsepower gets stopped in its tracks. Pulling the sled the entire track length is called a "full pull," and if multiple competitors achieve it, they advance to a pull-off with the weights set even farther forward.
