Trout Stocking at Discovery Park

On Saturday, October 31 at 10:00 am approximately 1,500 rainbow trout will be stocked in Discovery Pond. It is fun to watch the fish stocking. The process doesn't take long, so guests are encouraged to arrive a little early if they want to watch.
Included in the stocking will be 100 tagged fish. The first 5 tagged fish caught and turned in will receive a prize. Tagged fish can either be shown to the Park Ranger/ staff present or brought to the Environmental Learning Center during open hours.
Fishing for trout at Discovery Pond requires a valid Iowa fishing license ($22 per year for Iowa residents) AND trout fee ($14.50 for Iowa residents). All Iowa fishing rules and regulations apply, including the daily bag limit of 5 trout per licensed angler and a possession limit (how many you have in total including home in the freezer) of 10.
Please note, children under 16 can fish for trout without a license or trout fee, ONLY if they are with a licensed adult, and then they have to share the daily limit with that adult.
Fishing licenses can be purchased at the County Recorder's office in the Admin Building, a number of local retailers, and online at License.gooutdoorsiowa.com.
