Trouble in the Headwaters – Film Screening & Panel Discussion
Schedule
Wed, 17 Sep, 2025 at 07:00 pm
UTC-07:00Location
Roberts Creek Hall | Gibsons, BC
The documentary features the groundbreaking research of Dr. Younes Alila, professor of forest hydrology at UBC, whose peer-reviewed science shows how government and industry have consistently underestimated the flood risks caused by clear-cutting.
After the screening, stay for a panel discussion with Dr. Alila, filmmaker Daniel J. Pierce, and Suzanne Senger, Executive Director of the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association.
Together, they’ll connect the lessons from Grand Forks to urgent watershed issues here on the Sunshine Coast — including proposed logging in the recharge zones of Aquifers 560 and 552, which supply drinking water for Gibsons, West Howe Sound, and over 20,000 residents in the Chapman system.
Admission by donation – all are welcome!
This event is part of a grassroots province-wide film tour bringing communities together to defend watersheds and primary forests across BC.
