Most people think backpacking around here requires expensive gear, expert skills, and nerves of steel to deal with grizzlies. It doesn't.We will walk you through three accessible overnight trips within 60 miles of Cody - places where you can test your comfort level, build skills, and actually enjoy yourself. We'll cover what gear you actually need (not what magazines say you need), how to think about wildlife safety without paranoia, and why just getting out on your first trip matters more than doing it perfectly.
If you've been thinking about backpacking but don't know where to start, or you're nervous about doing it solo or with kids, come ask questions. This is for people who want to go, not people who already went.
