'Trick or Treat' Chain Stitch Embroidery

We will use chain stitch to create a 'Trick or Treat' design over Halloween-patterned cloth. We will then finish our hoop by gathering the spare material on the back using a running stitch, making it ready to hang or display.

Don't worry if you don't know any stitches or can't even thread a needle; we will go over everything you need to make the artwork.

The materials fee for this class is $10. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts Venmo.

Kat Lombard-Cook is a designer, educator and researcher. For over twenty years she has used a variety of visual media from film to fiber to tell stories. Her embroidery practice centers on foregrounding the value of craft, and preserving practices and knowledge for future generations. Kat has taken virtual classes from Wafa Ghnaim, author of Tareez and Tea and founder of the US Tatreez Institute, where she learned the skills she will be teaching. As a life-long-learner, she loves to learn new techniques and share them with others through her teaching.

• Embroidery hoop
• Halloween-themed material with backing, cut to size
• Access to A2's Fiber shop and tools for the duration of the session.

Attire: Attendants should wear close-toed slip-resistant shoes (steel-toe work boots are ideal), long pants, and no loose-fitting clothing that could possibly get caught in machinery. Make sure to wear only natural fibers (i.e., cotton, wool, linen, etc) and bring reading glasses if needed for detailed work.
