Who was Selena Quintanilla-Pérez?

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez (née Quintanilla; April 16, 1971 – March 31, 1995) was an American singer. Referred to as the "Queen of Tejano Music", her contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the late 20th century. In 2020, magazine put her in third place on their list of "Greatest Latino Artists of All Time", based on both Latin albums and Latin songs chart. Media outlets called her the "Tejano Madonna" for her clothing choices. She also ranks among the most influential Latin artists of all time and is credited for catapulting the Tejano genre into the mainstream market.

Why this event?

We are hosting this event for two reasons

1) We are coming together to celebrate one the life and times of the Queens of Music: Mrs. Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. This event comes between her tragic death 30 years ago on March 31, 1995 and her birthday (April 16). The morning will be filled with some of the best music from Selena, Selena y Los Dinos and other amazing Tejano music genres artist.

2) We also need to remember that during these hard times -- we still need to be joyful and celebrate as a community!

Schedule of Events:

8:30 am - Check In/Doors Open, Breakfast is Served, Seating Begins

9:00 am - Welcome from Davis Phoenix Colaition and Davis Pride leadership

9:15 am - Karaoke Show - sing your faviorte Selena or Selena y Los Dinos songs

10:00 am - Family Firendly Drag Show - two hours of some of the best queens in NorCal performing to Selena's great catalog of music.

Included in your ticket: Fresh fruit, Muffins/breads, Stuffed french toast, Mini Quiches/Egg Bites, Sausage & Bacon (but not limited to - menu items subject to change). Non-Alcoholic Beverages: Water, Various Juices, Tea, Coffee

VENUE/EVENT ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

Last but not least, you and your party understand and agree that this event is held at a private event space. The venue, promoters, Davis Phoenix Coalition, and Davis Pride planning committee will have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for any form of discrimination, fighting, illegal activities, and/or negative disruption of the show. Violators will be asked to leave and/or escorted out by DPC or venue management. Violators will be evicted from the event and all ticket fees will be forfeited.
