Welcoming back the incredible Trevor Babajack Steger for the Gloucester R&B festival! 🎸
Trevor Babajack Steger is an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a string of accolades, chart-topping albums, and sold-out shows across the UK and Europe, including Italy, Poland, Spain, Portugal, France, and Germany. His music has been championed by Cerys Matthews on BBC Radio 2 and Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music, with airplay on countless stations worldwide.
Trevor’s sound is impossible to pin down. At first glance, "Acoustic Blues" might seem fitting, but it barely scratches the surface. His raw, ferocious energy, growling vocals, and masterful musicianship—on harmonica, National guitar, lap steel, and more—create a sound that defies categorization. Some call it Punk Blues, Swamp, Power Acoustic, Raw Roots—but none quite capture it. Think Tom Waits meets Sonny Terry, with guitar chops that rival the best in blues, folk, Americana, and beyond. His music shifts effortlessly from haunting and atmospheric to gritty and foot-stomping, demanding to be experienced live.
Critics and audiences alike have sung his praises. Blues in Britain hails him as "one of our finest and most original bluesmen." Blues Matters calls him a "master craftsman." His latest album, Six Foot Ten—which hit #1 on the British Blues Chart—has been described as "a masterpiece, a true work of musical artistry" (Blues in Britain) and "a future classic" (Folk & Tumble).
Whether performing solo, as the Trevor Babajack Duo (with acclaimed percussionist Jesse Benns, known for work with The Hawthornes, Thrown Together, Glymjack and The Gerry Colvin Band), or as the Trevor Babajack Trio (featuring virtuoso violinist Jo Chambers, who performs everywhere from classical-infused raves in Ibiza to orchestras worldwide), Trevor delivers an unforgettable live experience. Expect raw energy, masterful songwriting, and world-class musicianship—an experience that will stay with you long after the last note fades.
The festival is situated in the heart of Gloucester, within easy reach of both parking and public transport. The entire festival will be totally free for all to enjoy – just as it has been for over two decades! 🎶
Keep your eyes out for all the other incredible acts we have on the bill this year! 💙
